The Digital Imaging curriculum is project-based. Considerable attention will be given to the development of visualization skills – centered around the study of light, as well as, the Elements of Design: Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Space and Value and the Principles of Composition: Unity, Harmony, Variety, Contrast, Movement, Balance, Emphasis, Repetition, Rhythm.
This class will introduce you to Digital cameras and their operation, Video Cameras and their operation, the computer-based “digital” darkroom, digital image manipulation and collage, Digital Sound Recording and Editing, Digital Based Video editing and manipulation, Web Design, and Digital Printing. This course will also provide an introduction to exhibition preparation as well as presentation of your artwork. You will do written research, including reading articles relating to visual culture, image context science and art history.
Objectives:
-To know problem solving as part of the creative process
-To demonstrate applications of differing media, processes and techniques
-To understand the history of art and its cultural variations
-To use the art critique process both orally and written & its basis as the language of art
-To create a personal growth portfolio of work
-To survey digital media in preparation for advanced courses & the college curriculum

Required Supplies:
STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN:
--Digital camera w / memory card & case
Classroom Expectations:
1. Students are to come to class ON TIME with ID and materials PREPARED to work.
2. Students are responsible for keeping up-to-date Cornell style notes in their Digital Journal.
3. Students are responsible for respecting each other, the classroom, all materials and equipment
4. Students are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.
5. ABSOLUTELY no food or drink is allowed in the Maclab.
8. You must turn in ALL WORK ON TIME.
Late work: will be penalized 10% each day that it is late, with a maximum penalty of 40%. The only late assignment accepted without penalty will be from an excused absence on the day it is due, and then it is dues the first day you return.
9. Students should not write, draw, or deface tables, chairs, or walls, or deface any Lab property.
